The approximately 5000 inhabitants comprehensive city Bad Berneck is located at the gates of the festival city of Bayreuth, north of the Upper Franconian district of Bayreuth. The Kneipp spa town is surrounded by seven wooded hills and lies in the valley of the Ölschnitz.

Bad Berneck is known for its good Franconian gastronomy. The most famous photo opportunity of the city is the historic marketplace, which is the heart of Bad Berneck with its view of the castle tower. Striking is also the well-kept fountain and gardens, which is festively decorated for Easter and in winter is dominated by an impressive Christmas tree. Just a few steps away is another flagship of the spa town, namely the impressive, colorful spa park with a Kneipp facility, a goat enclosure, a duck pond and a large children's playground that makes the hearts of children beat faster, and a miniature golf course. This new 18 lanes tournament mini golf course is enthusiastically received. Two historic colonnades, in which some concerts and other events are held, complete the picture. Even the health tourist finds peace and relaxation here and comes as a Kneipp friend at its full cost, if he seeks refreshment in the Kneipp pool. In addition, he can enjoy the romantic atmosphere in the park.

In summer, the spa park shines through a great summer Parkfest, at the last World Cup 2014 by Publik Viewing and in winter by a unique Christmas market, which is unparalleled. The Ölschnitz, which rises about 19 km from Bad Berneck in Solg, is an integral part of the spa park. It flows around the Burgkapelle Stein in a large arc and passes through many turns in a steep rocky valley of diabase rock into the spa park of the health resort Bad Berneck. After another kilometer, it flows into the White Main, which rises at the Ochsenkopf, the second highest elevation of the Fichtelgebirge. Already in the 18th and 19th century pearls were "harvested" from the freshwater pearl mussels in the Ölschnitz. Even today, the water is so clear that crayfish and mussels can still be spotted. The idyllic Ölschnitztal has always been one of the most beautiful valleys of the Fichtelgebirge.

Surrounded by rock towers with beautiful viewpoints, this impressive natural scenery provides an unforgettable impression.

The numerous natural beauties are also reflected in the literature. In particular, Margravine Wilhelmine and the well-known representatives of romance, such. Jean Paul, Tieck and Wackenroder have already been here and were inspired by the landscape, which is evidenced in their books with the outlined pictures and letters. In the summer months organized z. B. the Fränkische Theater Summer theatrical performances, chanson, cabaret and literature evenings in the Old Kindergarten / Kukuk. The Brezen Weeks, which are well-known beyond the boundaries of the district, will be visited in which, from mid-January, Franconian specialties are offered alternately weekly to pretzel keepers.

Other well-known festivals include the Stadelkerwa in Rimlas, the castle festival, which will take place every two years, the wine festival in the district of Bärnreuth, the Kerwa in Köslar and the Western Festival, organized by the FSV Röhrenhof, in the district of Escherlich. A skater park and a spa park as well as several parking spaces for campers may not be missing in Bad Berneck.

Not far from the spa town await the Goldbergsee at Marktschorgast, the Goldkronacher and the Trebgaster bathing lake, the swimming pools in Himmelkron, the Richard Wagner city of Bayreuth and the beer city of Kulmbach on bouncy trippers.
